Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Part X – Personal Information
Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services is responsible for ensuring the privacy of your personal information in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
We have developed written policies guiding how we are to collect, retain, protect, and dispose of personal information involving our service recipients, as well as the steps required in the unfortunate case of an information breach.
Unless authorized to meet child protection or other legal obligations, we will not release any personal information outside AAFS without your consent.
We encourage you to contact your worker or our Intake department if you would like to view or correct the contents of your file, or if you have any questions or concerns regarding our privacy or information practices, please contact our Privacy Designates Mary Ann Houle or Ainsley Ferguson at MaryAnn.Houle@aafs.ca, Ainsley.Ferguson@aafs.ca or at (807) 468-6224.
If your privacy questions have not been answered or issues not resolved to your satisfaction, you can make a formal privacy complaint using our formal complaint process. To do so please put your complaint in writing and address correspondence to: Executive Director, Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services, 20 Main Street South, Kenora Ontario, P9N 1S7.
If, after contacting us, you feel that your concerns have not been addressed to your satisfaction, you have the right to complain to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC). The IPC is responsible for making sure that privacy laws are followed in Ontario.
