After Hours Retainer One-One Worker (Casual/Relief)
Location: Kenora
The On-call Retainer is part of the On-Call Team, which provides after-hours emergency child protection services. Under the direction of the On-Call Supervisor, the On-Call Retainer is responsible for the following;
- Supervision of children and youth either at hospital, hotel or Agency Operated Homes;
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children and youth at all times;
- On Call Retainer will search for High Risk CIC
- Work with high risk and special needs children and youth
- Interact with children and youth, encourage positive communication, and establish a trusting relationship;
- Manage a variety of behaviors;
- Report immediately all instances of emergency to the On-Call Supervisor;
- Provide local and long distance transportation;
- Provide medical emergency escort out of district;
- Model appropriate behavior and language;
- Case note interaction with children and youth at the conclusion of each shift;
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with one year experience; however a combination of related experience and skills may be considered;
- Knowledge of AAFS, Customary Care, First Nation Communities;
- Knowledge of child development and behavior management;
- Ability to report to work on short notice;
- Ability to follow direction;
- Ability to work well with hospital personnel, police, external agencies and the On-Call staff;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working with children;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Current First Aid and C.P.R. would be an asset
- Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver’s License
- Must provide a clear Vulnerable Section Check and Drivers Abstract;
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.
Rate of Pay:
- $75.00/night from Monday- Friday ( stand-by)
- $90.00 night for Saturday and Sunday, and Holiday (stand-by)
- $21.78/hour for direct supervision of children (call-out)
